"A taco pizza? I have not had one of those before. I have tried a cheeseburger one and it was delicious." He smiled, remembering again a lot of firsts he'd had when he'd left Germany and come over to the States. For all the bad times he could remember, there were good ones to counter them with, and Kurt could always consider himself lucky for that alone. "Would you like more? Something else, perhaps?"
Unbeknownst to him, his tail had decided to take a little stroll over to Newt's leg, winding gently around it and just holding him as Kurt sat across from him.
Newt was in mid bite when the tail started sneaking to him. He grinned.
"Is that your version of playing footsie? Because I think I like it better."
Dudes with tails was going to be a thing with him from now on, he knew it. He finished his bite and chewed as he thought. The answer was a shrug. "What do you have?"
A quick blink, then realization made him flush, his head dipping down in acknowledgement, but he didn't remove his tail. If anything, the tip gave a slight caress where it lay. "I have not played footsie myself, though I have heard of it. I suppose this is... similar."
Yes, Newt, he was admitting to being touchy feely. Kurt didn't really do lies. "Ah, more schnitzel. The cookies. I had bought a roast chicken for later, but I do not mind sharing."
"Let you stay? If you had not replied to my message today, I was going to call and ask you to come over." He looked entirely serious, too. He'd bought a whole damn chicken, Newt. A big damn chicken. With veggies. Just waiting to be put in the oven to cook and get nice and tasty. "I would... very much like you to stay. For dinner. And perhaps longer?"
... Okay he was definitely starting to think this was more than just bros hanging out.
"Thanks, yeah. Yeah! I'd love to."
Sorry he was just... surprised. He'd had a few casual flings sure but over the past couple of years he'd been too busy for even that really. Work took up a lot more of his life than he had realized. Not that it bothered him because he loved what he did.
To keep from spoiling his appetite, he stopped here with the snacks. He gave a happy but sly kind of smile, like when you're jokingly suspicious of someone.
"Ah, well..." He looked down at his hands, as innocent as a blue elfy looking mutant could look. "Dinner. And then I thought we could watch a movie? Or maybe go up onto the roof and look at the stars, if the sky is clear enough for it."
"Well, I... suppose yes, I was. I mean, it is not the same as a real date, but I do not know anywhere here and I have not found employment yet, so... I am somewhat limited in my funds." Very limited. But he could offer chicken. And cookies...?
Kurt's smile widened then, eyes all but glowing, even in the light of the kitchen. "I think you will find yourself outmatched. I found a movie with pirates and I will quite happily make you submit."
Guess who didn't realize how dirty that sounded...
Newt narrowed his eyes and leaned in, ignoring the dokis that came along with those gorgeous yellow eyes. Stop, self. You've only known him like a week or less.
"What movie?"
Probably had Johnny Depp in it before everyone made fun of him.
"Are you?" There was a puff of smoke, and Kurt reappeared behind Newt. "And how do you plan on doing that? Do your kaiju come out from your arms to grab me?"
His arms wound around Newt's middle, his tail joining in as he smiled against the man's ear. "I believe I have you."
Newt jumped, again, because even when you knew it was going to happen where he'd end up was always a surprise. It was so fast, too! Your brain did not have time to catch up. He could see why an evil genius would want him.
Not that any of that mattered because wow okay Kurt gained some bravery over the past couple of days.
"What if they did? You don't know. I could be dangerous."
Not without a lab or equipment. No superpowers for this guy. Except his brain.
"I do not believe that." He bamfed again, this time with Newt, appearing by the couch this time and keeping a good hold on him in case he lost his balance. "I know dangerous people and you are far too kind to be so."
WHAT THE FUCK. Newt found himself gripping tight to whatever he could hold on Kurt. There wasn't much of a warning and his head was trying to make up for what the hell just happened. That wasn't nearly as unpleasant over a short distance. Still dizzying.
He gave a short, if shaky, laugh at that. "Uh... 'Kind' is not an adjective most people would use."
"Then most people are not taking a close enough look." Kurt released Newt with his arms, though his tail kept a helpful hold around his waist. "I would use it. I did." And that was that, Newt.
"You haven't known me very long," he pointed out with an actual point. He was mostly playing devil's advocate but also entirely right.
Sure, Newt didn't go out of his way to be an asshole. He knew he could be one by accident more often than anyone would like. But that didn't make him kind. He would absolutely keep money found on the street and ignore beggars unless he wanted to get rid of some change.
"I'm only nice to you because you're hot. And have cookies."
Now that was definitely a joke. Mostly. There was a good chunk of truth to it.
Kurt scoffed. "Clearly we have different definitions of nice." He finally let go of Newt with his tail, moving over to where he'd set the movies down for later. Holding them up, he waggled them at Newt. "Do you have a preference between the two?"
He laughed. "Well past these. I just... happen to really like pirate movies. And these are classics. How can you not like them?" Don't make him give you the sad puppy face, Newt. He would pull that so hard...

Not that Newt had been a footsie maniac before (why bother?) but. Point remained. It felt a lot nicer for a start.
"You'd let me stay for dinner..?"
Was this as bros or as some kind of date or something in between? And why did he care? Normally he didn't care at all.

Now he felt silly.

"Dude, were you going to ask me on a date?"
Stay at home dates counted! He'd prefer to go out but whatever. Beggars could not be choosers and this would be the first in like, forever.

Casual? He could do casual.
"I might fight you over the movie, though." He held up his hands in fake surrender. "I can't be held responsible if you have no taste."

Kurt's tail, however, tightened on Newt's leg, daring him to try to get away.

He acted overly casual and talkative as he stood. When you act so fake unaware it's obvious you are.
"Then I'll just go check it out then!"
... Wow that was a strong grip he had with his tail. Mind, no. No dirty thoughts until after dinner.

His smile was razor sharp and amused as all hell. It seemed he was going to get to play with his new friend. How wonderful.

Except when it became really clear that Kurt was a lot stronger than Newt thought. This meant war.
"I am so paying you back for this later."
Was he ticklish? Newt would find out.

"Seriously?"
These were in black and white! Had he, personally, ever seen a black and white film past Psycho?
"What year did you say you were from?"
The last question is an honest one, not one to tease him.
